A bonded, flexible matrix of hexagonal packets surround the tank and release their fire suppressive contents when ruptured by a blast event, preventing ignition of vaporized fuel. The Hextinguish™ packets are individually replaceable, making this system a critical component to prevent catastrophic fires and keeping crews and vehicles safe and mission-ready. Hextinguish™ system is a passive fire suppression system that protects the fuel cell from explosions and fires caused by a tank rupture from explosively formed projectiles or a blast over-pressure. The ruggedized, flexible packets bonded to the fuel tank self-sacrifice and disperse a cloud of fire suppression powder that eliminates the misted fuel vapor and the resulting potential for explosion and fire.
