Targeted attacks on military convoys revealed a critical weakness in vehicle survivability. Fuel tanks exposed to the direct flame of a pool or tire fire could cause an explosion or eliminate the opportunity for a crew/vehicle evacuation from the danger zone. High Impact Technology developed the FireCapTM reactive intumescent system to provide critical time in the worst circumstances, protecting the vehicle crew, the fuel tank, and the battlefield mobility of the vehicle itself.

A loaded fuel tank coated with FireCapTM intumescent system will withstand the direct flames of a JP 8 (diesel) pool fire for over ten minutes without increasing the internal tank temperature. Applied separately or in concert with the other subsystems of the BattleReadysm/tm tank, FireCapTM intumescent system adds to the already formidable defenses against catastrophic explosions, punctures, leaks, fires and breaches provided by the High Impact Technology family of innovative battlefield solutions
